Absolut Tabasco is a collaboration between two of the most recognizable names in their respective categories — Absolut Vodka, produced in the small village of Åhus in southern Sweden since 1879, and the TABASCO® Brand, whose fermented red pepper sauce has been made on Avery Island, Louisiana using the same three-ingredient recipe of aged red peppers, salt, and vinegar since 1868. The partnership was conceived around a single, well-established truth: that Tabasco is already one of the defining flavor components of the Bloody Mary, the cocktail that sits at the intersection of vodka and heat. Rather than leaving that combination to chance at the bar, this collaboration brings the two together at the source. Launched in January 2026 and rolling out across more than 50 markets worldwide, Absolut Tabasco is produced and bottled in Åhus at 38% ABV with no added sugar and no gluten — a clean base with a purpose-built heat profile.

The infusion source is what separates this from standard chili-flavored vodkas: Absolut Tabasco is made by blending Absolut's wheat-derived base spirit with a natural essence derived from the fermented, aged red pepper mash used to produce Tabasco Sauce — the same barrel-aged chili mash that McIlhenny ages for up to three years on Avery Island before it goes into the bottle. That extended fermentation and aging process develops the layered character of authentic Tabasco — the heat, the vinegar tang, and the underlying sweetness — and it is this aged essence, rather than raw chili extract, that defines the spirit's aromatic and palate profile. The result is a flavored vodka that tastes like what it is rather than an approximation of it.

The nose opens with immediate red chili pepper, aged vinegar, and a subtle citrus note that grounds the heat in something recognizable and direct. The palate delivers on the label's promise — smooth vodka entry giving way to bold pepper heat and savory spice that builds gradually through the mid-palate without spiking. The finish is warm and lingering, with pepper and a faint vinegar persistence that fades slowly and cleanly. The heat is real but measured — sessionable, as Absolut describes it — and the overall profile is purpose-built for the Bloody Mary, the Spicy Vodkarita, or anywhere a drink benefits from a controlled, flavor-forward kick rather than heat for its own sake.
