Cantine Pellegrino Amaro Liqueur is crafted deep within the heart of Sicily’s sunbelt lies the Marsala region – a place of warm, mineral-rich soil, sea-kissed breezes and an abundance of golden sunshine. Today Pellegrino is one of the most prosperous and important wine companies in Marsala, grown under the continuous guidance of the Founder’s Family. Notary Paolo Pellegrino, who had a great passion for winemaking, founded the company in 1880. Over the years, the Pellegrino family has thrived through strategic marriages that enhanced the company’s development. The marriage of the founder's son, Carlo, to Josephine Despagne, daughter of renowned oenologist Oscar Pierre Despagne, introduced invaluable expertise to the business. Today, the company is managed by Pietro Alagna, Benedetto Renda, Paola Alagna, Caterina Tumbarello, and Massimo Bellina, ensuring a legacy of quality and tradition. In 1773, English trader John Woodhouse discovered the local wine, sparking the production of fortified Marsala wine, which remains a hallmark of the region. All Pellegrino wines utilize indigenous grapes, cultivated in a climate that requires no chemical treatments, reflecting the purity and authenticity of Sicilian winemaking traditions.
