"I’m happy to offer you this new Chardonnay produced from young vines from a vineyard I love and respect tremendously: Freedom Hill Vineyard. Because this is their second year of production, I’ve put them in a label drawn by my younger daughter, Violet, depicting a snowy owl about to light onto a Western hemlock branch. As these vines mature, they will increasingly transmit the unique place on earth that they are in relationship with. I’m eager to grow and learn with these vines on their path to becoming my Freedom Hill Vineyard Chardonnay.
Beautiful pale lemon yellow in appearance, this Chardonnay is brilliant and transparent in the glass. The nose has soft minerals, hints of vanilla, pear, and subtle spices and honeysuckle and continues in the mouth along with stone-fruit and caramelized sugar. I think what I love the most about this wine is its texture that carries all of this."
