The high altitude wine country of Salta, nestled in the far northwestern corner of Argentina, is a very rugged mountainous desert. Flor de Cardon's estate vineyards at Estancia Los Cardones, named for the area's majestic cacti which can grow as tall as 30', are indeed an oasis amid the surrounding desolate landscape.
Malbec is the signature red wine grape varietal of Argentina. At Estancia Los Cardones, Malbec shows a very unique expression. This wine is made from a parcel with very rocky soils of flat granite slate, lending savory minerality to the dark fruit flavors and floral aromatics.
