Clear and fresh aromas of black cherries and citrus rind with some blood orange undertones. Medium-bodied, firm and silky, with a polished texture and a long, intense finish. Very fine tannins. Give it two or three years to soften slightly but there’s pretty energy to this. From organically grown grapes. Drink after 2027.

Blackberry, black currant, plum, tar and sweet spice flavors are aligned with thick, beefy tannins in this red. Unevolved at this stage, showing plenty of fruit that needs to come together with the structural components. Best from 2028 through 2045. 1,600 cases made, 670 cases imported.

The 2022 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigna del Sorbo is an elegant, sophisticated wine. Black cherry, plum, new leather, liquorice, cloves and mocha are all amplified. All of the natural intensity of the year comes through in a potent, decidedly virile Vigna del Sorbo. The 2022 spent 12 months in French oak barriques and a second year in French oak casks.

A wine of pure power and class, loaded with dark notes of cassis, leather, dried herbs, wood smoke and menthol. Large-framed with powerful tannins and a sharp acidity, the wine has the potential to age for 20 years or more.

About the Winery

Since 1968, Fontodi has been owned by the Manetti family, who for centuries have been dedicated to another quintessential Chianti tradition: the production of its renowned terracotta.
