# Glenfarclas 25 Year Old The Glenfarclas 25 Year Old is celebrated as the quintessential sherried Speyside whisky by many single malt enthusiasts. It is the distillery's signature expression, crafted from a "heart of the heart" cut, double-distilled, and aged for 25 years in 100% Oloroso Sherry casks. Glenfarclas, one of Scotland's last independent, family-owned distilleries (run by the Grant family since 1865), uses only the sweetest and lightest middle spirit (15–20% of each run) for its single malt, discarding the heads and tails. Bottled at **43% ABV**, it features natural color and no chill filtration. ## Tasting Notes **Nose:** Rich with oak, fruity oranges, red fruits, dried dates and prunes, milk chocolate, malty barley, golden syrup, woodland honey, leather, and creamy nuts. Sherry notes include roasted pecans, rum-raisin, black cherry, toasted coconut, and vanilla, with hints of nutmeg, peach, apricot, and mint chocolate. **Palate:** Mirrors the nose with milk chocolate, hazelnut, orange and ginger marmalade, tannic leather, coffee grounds, oak, toffee, malt, dates, figs, crème brûlée, fruitcake batter, and gingerbread. Medium-bodied with excellent viscosity and a chewy, complex flavor profile. **Finish:** Long and intense, dominated by dry, bitter oak, tobacco, dark cocoa, and smoky maltiness. Ends with a dark Belgian chocolate note, showcasing complexity and depth. This whisky stands out for its clean, tangy palate, long finish, and remarkable balance of sweetness without cloying, despite its sherry influence. A true Speyside classic.
