A combination of award-winning Joseph Magnus Bourbon and 11 and 18-year-old whiskeys to assume bold, rich aromas of tobacco, spice, leather, vanilla, blanched almonds, and toffee. The Armagnac cask finish lends fruity notes of fig, prune, and dried apricot.
“Auld Mug” is an informal name given to the trophy that is awarded to the winner of the America’s Cup, the oldest international competition in sailing. As a tribute to that grand old competition, Joseph Magnus Cigar Blend Bourbon Batch #51 exhibits slightly more barrel spice and savory notes than the other batches from this series, although these notes blend into the inherent toffee and vanilla bean sweetness of the bourbon. Aromas of dill, lemon balm, tarragon, dried Mediterranean oregano, and Italian fennel-seed cookies waft to the nose, coupled with nutty tawny Port-flavored pipe tobacco, freshly baked almond cookies sprinkled with confectioner’s sugar, blueberry compote, and coconut icing smothered over white cake that dominate the palate.
