Kingsbarns Balcomie Lowland Sherry Cask Single Malt

Crafted in the heart of Fife, Kingsbarns Balcomie Lowland Single Malt is a delicate yet richly layered whisky that showcases the elegance of sherry cask maturation. Made from locally sourced barley and matured exclusively in ex-Oloroso American Oak Sherry Butts from Jerez, this expression reflects the expertise of Kingsbarns Distillery. Selected by Isabella Wemyss, these casks enhance the spirit’s natural fruitiness with gentle oak influence and deep sherry sweetness.  

The nose unfolds with rich treacle, sultanas, and spiced fruit loaf, accented by cinnamon icing and a hint of dark chocolate-covered berries. On the palate, sweet tinned pineapple emerges first, followed by zesty orange peel and warm cake spice. The finish lingers with notes of dried apricot and a subtle touch of roasted hazelnut, adding a smooth and nutty depth.  

Bottled at 46% ABV without chill filtration, Kingsbarns Balcomie delivers a full-bodied yet approachable character. Best enjoyed neat or with a splash of water, it offers a perfect balance of sweetness and spice, making it an inviting dram for both newcomers and seasoned whisky drinkers alike.
