Sandeman Vintage Port 2000

A flagship vintage port from Portugal's renowned Douro region, this wine is crafted when harvest conditions merit a full-vintage declaration and is made from the top grapes of that year. After fermentation is halted with the addition of grape spirit, the wine is matured in large oak casks and bottled unfiltered, allowing it to age gracefully in bottle for decades. From the steep schist terraces of the Douro Valley, the vineyards often feature Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and other native varieties. On the palate one finds deep red and black fruit, rich spice, firm yet refined tannins and a long, elegant finish.
