The Last Drop Distillers Unveils Release No. 40: An Extra Añejo Tequila 700mL x 50mL
This is The Last Drop’s 40th release, and notably, their first-ever tequila.
Crafted by Carmen Villarreal of Casa San Matías (Highlands of Jalisco, Mexico), who is now a member of The Last Drop’s “Assembly.”
Made from 100% Blue Weber agave, grown for up to 10 years in the red-clay soils of Jalisco.
Aged in three different casks:
Two ex-bourbon barrels (aged ~10 years)
One port pipe (aged ~7 years)
Bottled at 46.3% ABV (92.6 proof).
Very limited: only 435 bottles worldwide.
Appearance:
Golden amber color with subtle copper-pink reflections.
Nose:
Roasted nuts, spiced oak
Waves of tropical pineapple and vanilla
Floral notes: orange blossom, jasmine
Palate:
Creamy dulce de leche and cooked agave
Plums, dates, and a hint of green jalapeño skin
Warming cinnamon and clove, floral sweetness, and toasted oak
Finish / Conclusion:
Balanced finish with spiced oak, dried fruit richness, and a fresh agave note.
The spirit “encapsulates the essence of time and the land,” showing the interplay between oak aging, fruit, and agave.
