This 2013 vintage Knockdhu from Valinch and Mallet was matured in Refill Sherry for 11 years before bottling.
The story of the Knockdhu distillery — and the outstanding whisky it produces — was brought to life by John Morrison, a man of vision.
The discovery of pure water springs on nearby Knock Hill, coupled with a landscape rich in peat and barley and the nearby Great North of Scotland railway line, presented a golden opportunity to John, who purchased the Knock estate in 1892.
Total worldwide outturn: 339 bottles.
Nose: Ripe stone fruits, dried figs, with a floral hint of violet and nutmeg.
Palate: Cara Cara orange zest, a sprinkling of pepper, white chocolate, caramel and panna cotta.
Finish: The long-lasting finish features caramel and orange notes from the palate, with a lingering creaminess.
