Velvet Cap Single Malt Peated Sherry Cask is the newest member of the Velvet Cap Family from the Blackwater Distillery located in Waterford, Ireland.
Is it the turf-dried malt that gives this whiskey its distinct aroma, or is it the sherry casks used for aging? Breathe it in: gentle peat smoke and biscuity malt tempered with a hint of Jerez. Nabbing Gold at the Spirit Masters for 2022, its fair to say this is one well-balanced drop.
Nose: Delightful wood smoke, Granny Smith apples, toffee and Christmas spices.
Palate: Mild on the tongue with a slight burn on the back palate, Nilla wafers, toffee carries through from the nose, vanilla and cara cara orange.
Finish: Finish is long, smokey and sweet.
